Product Package Assessment
We look at the product to be packaged and consider the options with regard to package type and the desired purpose of the packaging item:
- Primary Package: Contains & protects product, communicates brand and provides functional attributes. Most often is regarded as a single SKU.
- Secondary Package: Contains, protects & transports primary package. Can be Shelf-Ready. Can be multiple SKU’s.
Recommendations are made regarding suitable packaging mediums to achieve desired marketing objectives. Multiple options may be considered with variations based on cost, durability, functionality, ease of use, etc.
Structural Design, Sampling and Prototyping
Once a selection of package type is made accurate design, sampling and prototypes are required. For some products this can be a complex procedure for other quite simple.
Packaging and Machine Systems Assessment
New and existing packaging may requirement assessment for their suitability for packaging system compliance. This could cover forming/assembly, filling, closure and secondary packaging filling and closure.
Package Specification and Version Control
We can assist in the specification of new and existing packaging and the provision of version control processes.
We can organise Graphic Design services to suit package mediums and styles or assist your own designer to provide designs for your packaging that meet corporate standards and achieve marketing objectives. Some packaging mediums do require specialist design services.
Budget Recommendation and Supplier Assessment
Once package specification, design and manufacturing options have been decided more detailed budgeting and supplier selection processes can be performed.
This may involve decisions on potential material options, photography, creative design or pre-press, available print method options, supplier recommendation and quotation analysis.
The process of converting the graphic and structural design elements to suit the packaging medium can lead to disappointment if not executed correctly. Management of the pre-press process can reap significant benefits.
